What I Wore: Spring Wedding Guest Style Inspiration
It’s sunny, it’s glorious, it’s not really that warm but
HEY. In my mind, summer is well on it’s way!! And with that thought, I’m dreaming
of days spent on a sun-lounger, ripples in the pool, the sound of surf on the
sand… What other way to channel this through my personal being than with beachy
hair and mermaid makeup?
This week, I already released a tutorial about faking thebronze with the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick (which I’m also giving away!) – and today,
we’re moving away from the face and hair. The destination? The hands! The gateway to making sandcastles
and holding Mr Whippys, beautiful hands are just as important when it comes to summer
makeup.
Today’s nails are just that – a beautiful mermaid-meets-swimming-pool
shade, it’s the Indian Ocean nail polish from the Model’s Own Beetlejuice
range.
Isn’t it just sublime? Not quite blue, not quite pink pearl. Either way, it's a serious summer colour which will look SHEET HOT with a tan.
Alternatively, if you’re going for a pale and interesting vibe, Indian Ocean will also complement pastel hair and pale skins with an ethereal glow.
Does it come out like it does on the bottle? Read on.

As a big makeup fan, messing around with new makeup is always fun and when Glo Minerals asked me to create a "Pretty In Pink" look using their mineral-based makeup range, I was like ch-YEAH.
Glo Minerals then sent me three great products to use and I spent yesterday morning messing around with them. It's a bit like that round on Masterchef or Ready Steady Cook where the chefs are given some ingredients and expected to make a masterpiece. But was my look going to be Pretty Pinky or Pretty Stinky?
What have we got and how did I use them??

Apologies, that was poor - moving on - these are the products I was sent!

I can't believe I haven't blogged about this sooner - I treated myself to this NARS Lip Pencil from Selfridges last year (still feels weird saying last year!) I used that £50 Selfridges Gift Card which I won.
The shade is called Lodhi, it's a lovely coral-pink and it's absolutely perfect for this "new-year-spring-is-here!" mood that I'm in.

Isn't it lovely? (Do you like my vague attempt at artistic photography...!?) As I've said before, I'm a big fan of the crayon format and this NARS Lip Pencil ticks all the boxes. If only it wasn't so blimmin expensive!

Mmmm. I love Mint Green as a colour. It reminds me of mint choc chip (undeniably the best flavour of ice cream) and sunny, happy days.
Pastels are the epitome of spring and mint green is beautiful on its own, or even when paired with other ice-cream shades. I love this shade because it goes with everything from lilac to turquoise and is wearable both day and night. Hooray for flexibility.

For those not native to British weather, we've been having a bit of a cold spell until this week when suddenly the grey clouds have parted and some sunshine has decided to arrive late to the party. Hooray for sunshine.
Naturally, all my makeup is still in hibernation winter mode - lots of dark reds and blues - so when I saw this nail polish in H&M, I just had to have it!
Time for a bit of a Spring feeling!

Yes, I was queuing to pay at the time, and I AM THAT SUCKER
who reaches for the row of goodies deliberately lined up next to shoppers
waiting to pay. They get me EVERY time. (I’ve got no will power, I’m not even going to fight it.)
That, and it was only £1.99! Bargain.

Mmmmmint green: H&M Nail Polish
I'm a bit of a nail chameleon - my nail colour choice tends to reflect either my mood or the weather. And since there's no colour that can express "over-ate at Xmas and struggling to get back on the wagon", I thought I'd try the weather instead.
Overall, the winter season has had us donning dark hues on our nails. Bleak greys, boozy burgundies, party glitter and dark navy - it's all been very heavy and high impact. But it's January now, a new year! The faint whiff of spring is in the air but the weather is still very much cold, crisp and utterly pants.
How can I reflect this on my nails?? Easy.
Named after the street in Chelsea, Callow Street by Nails Inc is a lovely teal-grey shade with the teeniest hint of metallic olive sheen. It's actually a very unusual colour - I would never have picked it out myself normally but its really changed my opinion!
British weather? May as well have a different nail every hour then eh?
