Looking back on 2017, I’ve been on a whole load of trips this summer - I thought it only right that I dedicate a piece to the beauty products that have kept my face in place throughout the travel process.

With weight restrictions (and suitcase size) on my mind, I used to spend ages deliberating which beauty products would make the cut and still end up bringing a kilo of creams and potions, most of which were barely used but brought 'just in case'.

Sound familiar? The ongoing debate as to whether you need to bring the full skincare arsenal, or whether you can get away with just a tube of moisturiser. Those of you who have the full day cream, night cream, eye cream, serum routine wouldn't even believe it was even possible.

As a long-time beauty writer and skincare obsessive, I definitely fall into that category but I can safely say I've finally nailed it. Thanks to a series of trial and error on some recent travel breaks, I’ve now refined it to a trusted lineup of skincare superstars which I bring with me every time.

Obviously, certain trips are geared to more sun protection, more makeup glam or more outdoors inclined but when it comes to essentials, these are the ones that I will always need.

Take off time...

Air travel is notoriously hard on your skin, thanks to the dry air and dehydration. For anything over 4 hours, I always take off my makeup before protecting with a face oil or heavy cream.

Trilogy Rosehip Oil is one of my trusted facial oils. Certified organic and 100% natural, rosehip oil contains powerful antioxidants that help protect against the free radical damage of radiation. That, and a load of essential fatty acids that keep my skin hydrated and plump during the flight.

(If you have oily skin and hate face oils, Trilogy have also come out with a Light blend version too)

For long haul flights, I also use Christian Breton Deluxe Gold Mask when waking up onboard in the morning. Fortunately, I can pretty much fall asleep anywhere but when your skin needs a quick radiance & hydration fix, this mask is my go to.

It's pricey AF but one tube has lasted me a year and I would buy with my own money. It contains little gold particles that add visible radiance to your skin. Just apply the cream to your face, leave and tissue or rinse off.

Touch down.

After 20 minutes with the radiance mask, I'll put my face back on - mainly so that I actually bare some semblace to my passport photo.

Instead of bringing a full makeup bag on the plane, I just bring my portable makeup pocket rocket - the Chanel Palette Essentielle compact which I dedicated an entire post to upon purchase. This, plus a mascara and an eyebrow pencil- inflight makeup kit is sorted without an overflowing liquid allowance bag.

Other than the palette, my FAVOURITE beauty discovery this summer was this Skin Defence Multi-Protection essence by The Body Shop. My new favourite and daily must-have in my skincare routine.

In a nutshell, it's the lightest SPF50 cream I've ever used, has antioxidants protection AND Vitamin C to slowly brighten my skin and reduce pigmentation with each use. It's billed as an essence but in my opinion, is moisturising enough for me to use a day cream. Dry skin may want to add a hydrating cream as well.

Cannot recommend this product enough, it protects your skin whilst slowly perfecting it. Check it out, on tour in Hong Kong.

After that, the only other thing is hand gel and eye drops. My favourite hand gel is Merci Handy - the least drying, most moisturising hand sanitiser that I've ever used.

And eye drops, an essential for any contact lens wearer - I've upgraded to single use capsules instead of a bottle. They're more expensive but the bottles can only be kept open for 3 months (of which I use about half) and you can just slip a single use capsule into any handbag, whenever you need it.

And that's literally it. The 5 products that I always bring with me.

What do YOU think? Do you have travel essentials that you always reach for? IS there such thing as travelling light? Tweet me your thoughts @Zoe_Dubs or send me a comment on Facebook!

Comfortable Sun Cream? New SPF Comfort Cream From La Roche-Posay Anthelios

There comes that time in your life where you start to make a more permanent move from Tesco Value to Tesco Finest and, for me, it's the same with makeup.

Let me tell you what I mean. Although I've dabbled in the occasional Lancome or Benefit product, I've spent the majority of my makeup years buying beauty-aisle brands and online budget beauty. As I've progressed with my career I've started to branch out but the big leap from high-street to high end can only be immortalised by one brand - and that's Chanel.

That's right - it's taken me a few years to get here but this month I bought my first bit of Chanel Beauty. A little healthy-glow compact which came with it's own velvet pouch. Say what?! How have I not gone high-end sooner?

What is this MASTERPIECE before me?

This, dear friends, is the new addition to the Chanel Les Beiges collection and the latest addition to my make up bag!

My First Chanel Beauty Buy! Les Beiges Multi-Colour Compact

Hello Team! A bit of a busy week for me - my new job is going great but it's quite a change of pace with a much, much earlier start! Thankfully these longer summer hours have made it a lot easier because it looks like it's 3pm outside when it's actually 8pm. Brilliant.

Of course, with longer summer hours comes longer sun exposure and whilst that's great for my Vitamin D intake, it means more damage to my skin and..... ACCELERATED AGEING. Duh duh duhhhhh.

I know you KNOW that SPF is important but let's be honest, we think of SPF and think sticky, heavy, pasty cream. I don't want that on my skin - it'll take years to dry and my skin will be all tacky and shiny right?

Wrong. My friends - let me introduce you to the SPF products of today. These products are light, they're velvet smooth, they now even come in different textures and different formats for any purpose and any part of your body!

Before you start wondering 'what parts of my body would i need to use SPF on?' - just keep reading and all will be revealed...

SPF isn't just about the suncream. Today I'll be covering my favourite all-over sun cream, a great SPF primer, portable SPF products and also some fabulous SPF makeup. Sound good? Let's start.

Best All-Over Suncream.

Summer Skincare: My Top SPF Products!

It is waaaarm outside! Isn't this weather great? A bit of sunshine makes me feel so happy. It's crazy how weather can affect your mood so much, I wonder why?

I have a theory that sunshine makes you happy because, hear me out here, with sunshine comes glorious things like ice cream, al fresco dining and the chance to fiiiinally wear that beautiful sundress you bought but never had the opportunity to wear... Sounds legit right?

Summer brings out the best feeling but of course, with the good comes the bad. The cruel balance of Cest La Vie means that photo perfect lipstick disappears around iced frappe straws and foundation stains end up on your new white dress - basically, hot weather and heavy makeup do nahhht get along.

So how do I get perfect but natural skin, without slapping on foundation?

What you need in hot weather is light coverage, with a barely there finish - oh and shiz loads of sun protection!!

The answer is simple, your summer salvation lies is the humble BB & CC cream. But which one?!

How To Get Natural Summer Skin: My fave BB & CC Creams

Last week, I had a little trip into SUMMER! In conjunction with the recent sunshine, Boots were showcasing some of their summer items in a gorgeous sun-filled space in Central London. Lahvely.

As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was on holiday! Trying on sunglasses, the smell of suncream in the air, what bliss! Isn't sun-cream just the best scent ever?!? Its right up there with baby powder and fresh laundry for me.

Anyway, summer scents aside, here's my lowdown on the top tips and top products to keep you looking fabulous this summer.

The two staples of Summer are SUN and SUN PROTECTION. I'm going to start with the more boring one, sun protection and then, my favourite - summer cosmetics to match your tan!

The Day I Went To Boots Camp: Boots Summer Shop

As a somewhat connoisseur of French pharmacy brands, think Bioderma, La Roche Posay etc, I am a bit of a Vichy fan.

A) I've never found a French product that I didn't like
B) Anything that sounds French basically sounds awesome. (I am seriously easy to market to, non?)

This week I attended the launch of some new additions to the Vichy Dermablend range. For those of you who haven't heard of Dermablend, it's a super strength, high coverage range, ideal for covering acne scars, birthmarks, hyper pigmentation, all sorts of skin sins!

The new Dermablend products are transfer resistant, waterproof, rub resistant and really gentle on sensitive skin - it's like The Flash of foundations (cue singing Flash! Aah-ahhhhhhhh! Saviour of the universe..)

Enough singing now - time to tell you about Dermablend and the new products!

Your Ideal Skin? Vichy Dermablend Launch

Today’s post starts with a big sigh. A really big sigh. Why? I am imminently broaching that time in my life where my skin cell regeneration rate starts to head the other way. Yes, my friends, I have boarded that ship – and it's destination? Aging. Boo!

As I creep further and further towards 30, the days of being excited for birthdays are no more. Okay, I’m practically, basically, compleetely lying here - I will forever love birthdays because it means I get presents and lots of cake but you can see where my dramatic feeling-sorry-for-myself monologue is going right? Aging is inevitable.

However, it’s not over until it’s over - I’m a fighter. Obviously fighting in spirit, not physically (Face Value Fight Club any one??) and I’ve been meaning to step up my skincare routine for a while now.

Although I already follow the holy trinity of 'cleanse, tone, moisturise', the steps for moisturising past the age of 25 becomes  “Serum & Moisturiser” and then “Serum & Moisturiser” becomes “Serum & Face Cream & Eye Cream”. Yup, that’s right – my new routine is now “Wash, Tone, Serum, Eye Cream, Face Cream” (and when I’m feeling like I could spend EVEN more time on my face, I sometimes throw “Pre-Cleanse” into the mix! Ker-azy.)

I’ve gone from three-step to six step!! Oh lord, growing up is hard work.

Thankfully, in honour of my next birthday coming up, Boots have sent me over a full Anti-Aging skincare set by Nivea. Can I get a hoo-ray?

Nivea Cellular Anti Aging Skincare Moisturiser Serum Beauty Review

This is the new Nivea Cellular Anti-Age range! There’s two moisturisers, a serum and an eye cream – it’s always good to use products from the same range as they are meant to complement and boost each other. Let’s take a closer look shall we?

Arm Yourself Against Aging: Nivea Cellular Anti-Age Range

Pinch, punch, first day of the month!! (Kick and a flick for being so quick!!) Do you remember doing this at school? I swear there were loads of "clever responses" like that, and they were all very violent thinking about it..

Anyway - can you believe it's March already?! March is when the cobwebs of the New Year have finally blown away. I have now fully recovered from the holiday season, my new healthy living routine is no longer a new year whim and officially a real thing and the time for my 'this-year-I'm-going-to's is pretty much now or never! 2014 is well and truly here.

But what has been brightening my grey days and equally greyer skin since January 1st? This fab CC cream from Seventeen! HIYA.

One of the most frequent questions I get asked is "What's your favourite  BB cream" to use? It used to be the Garnier Matte Miracle Skin for Combination/Oily - but then I started using this Seventeen CC Cream and I was completely blown over!!

Let's start from the beginning

I'll be honest, BB creams are neither here nor there for me - not quite as much coverage as a foundation, BB creams are effectively a tinted moisturiser with an SPF. I'm usually an all-or-nothing kinda gal. I wear BB creams on lazy sunday mornings, after a rare trip to the gym and on (even rarer) good skin days.

What's the difference between BB and CC?

Product Of The Month: Seventeen CC Cream

Nothing signals natural beauty like smooth, glowing, even skin. But even skintone can be hard to achieve in this world. The stress of 'living it large' or even just your day job can trigger acne, inflammation and spots. And exposure to the sun without sunscreen (even in this grey cloudy weather!) leaves skin open to UV damage, permanent dark marks and other irregular blemishes.
I don't know about you guys but every time I get a spot, a dark mark gets left behind once the spot has gone. Its like the inconsiderate pimple has been camping on my face and then left a patch of mud and debris there upon departure.  And the grass doesn't grow back for ages, so I'm left with a dark mark for months! Do any of you get this too??
This darkening of the skin occurs more frequently in asian, arabic and darker skin types and is known as hyperpigmentation.
Here's the science part... Hyper Pigmentation occurs when the skin produces too much melanin (the coloured pigment in hair and skin) This often occurs after some sort of trauma - like spots, skin damage, medication or UV exposure - and the over-production of melanin darkens the area.

Enter Dr Vanita Rattan and The Hyperpigmentation Clinic on Harley Street!

The Hyperpigmentation Clinic pretty much does what it says! Providing a range of skin-tone correcting services including facials, peels and products, I visited The Hyperpigmentation Clinic this week for a Lightenex Facial....

Have you tried mineral foundation? Made without chemicals or additives, mineral foundation is pretty much a load of ground up rocks but it's meant to be amazing for your skin. I am a testament to this fact - I started using mineral foundations back in 2007 and my skin only got better and better!

Mineral foundation fans will know the standard routine - dip, tap and buff. No, not three Geordie Shore dwarves.  Dip the brush into the powder, tap off the excess and then buff in circles into the skin.

Dip, tap & buff is a foolproof way to get great looking skin but it can be REALLY MESSY- especially if you're a clumsy one like me.

Common clumsy stories involving me and mineral foundation:

1) One sneeze at the wrong time, and a cloud of it escapes everywhere
2) One misjudged swipe of my bear claw hands and the whole pot tips over
3) Mistaking 'dipping' for dunking and getting half the pot on the brush.

So how happy was I to hear the original BareMinerals foundation was coming out in a pressed compact version?!  HIYA.

What did i think of it?

Are you ready for BareMinerals Ready SPF20 foundation?

It’s not quite 'the heat of summer' yet, but it is definitely a hella lot sunnier and you know what that means!  SPF awareness is raising its head in magazines and beauty bibles everywhere. Wear SPF every day, even when its not sunny, drink eight glasses of water a day blah blah blahh.

I’m not here to preach, I’m here to HAVE FUNNN AND WRITE INCAPITALZ – so I’m not going to lecture you on the importance of SPF. If you want saggy face vibes going on when I’m looking like a young balloon, that’s your call...

I’ve got loads of foundations with SPF in, but I realised that they were contributing to “flat shiny screen face” in any photos with flash so I decided to buy a separate SPF day cream.

For those wondering why, no – it’s not so I can have lots of shameless photos in the daytime as well – the plan is that I buy foundations without SPF, and then I can opt in and opt out as I please. Plan, non?

And here we go! My latest purchase. The Protect & Glow moisturiser from the Garnier Moisture Match range.
