You don't have to know me to know that I’m not a fan of the gym. At all. But, if there’s anything I dislike more than exercise it’s dieting. For those of you subjected to my Instagram Stories, you now I practically LIVE in McDonalds. I never thought I'd be writing about diets on my personal blog, seriously.
But what if I told you there was a healthy eating plan you could try that STILL let you eat chocolate and drink wine for five days of the week? A bit more interested now?

Well, that’s exactly what I thought when I heard about the 5:2 diet. It was so intriguing that, out of curiosity, I decided to trial the plan for 30 days as part of my weekly beauty feature for Yahoo!Style.. From someone who feels the constant need to eat, the results were quite surprising. (SPOILER ALERT - I'M STILL DOING IT!)

Don't get me wrong, you will NEVER see me become a healthy living blogger but surprisingly this works for me, so I decided to do a video to share my experience
Check out the original post I wrote over on Yahoo Style for the full details but here's my personal video with what I learnt from the diet, easy ways to stick to the 5:2 diet and tips you should try.

On days where I was too lazy to meal plan, I tried the fast packs from LighterLife Fast. on this programme, you can have up to 800 calories on your fast day, eating 4 of their fast packs. They range from porridge, to soups, to bars and shepherd's pie - so not your average.

I also tried out a meal plan from the Exante Diet - which also had packs that you could mix & bake in the oven - like mini scones and chocolate puddings. Still sounding like a diet to you? Didn't think so - take a look at the video!

When LighterLife Fast heard that I was doing this video, they offered to run a giveaway - you can win your own kick starter set to have a go at the 5:2 - all you have to do is follow and RT on Twitter! An EASY COMPETITION for you all!

What do YOU think? Are you, like me, not about running or diets? Could this be interesting for you?

Tweet me your thoughts @FaceValueBlog or send me a comment on Facebook!

What I Learnt From The 5:2 Diet & How To Do It The Easy Way!

What is my favourite thing about blogging? Well, other than somehow justifying my ridiculous collection of makeup, one of the things I love about blogging is getting to find out about new product launches before they hit the store. Even better, when I get to TRY the products before they're available on sale.

If you say Hair Extensions to me, I used to automatically think of limp rat tails, Geordie Shore and Barbie hair. Say Hair Extensions to me now and I think.. HOT HAIR!

If you follow my Instagram or Facebook feed, you won’t have missed the eye-opening event I went to last week, hosted by HotHair.co.uk. I got to try on fake ponytails, clip on buns, volumisers and even a full-on wig and what can I say? I think I’m a hair piece convert.

The thing is, it all actually looked surprisingly good! Or maybe it’s just me – read on, take a look and let me know what you think!

HHBloggerEvent - Taking Hair Extensions To New Lengths!

In case you haven’t already guessed from my serious over-use of exclamation marks and capitals on my Facebook and Twitter feed last night, I won the YahooLifestyle competition to report from London Fashion Week. Yes, ME, at LFW. I can’t even begin to work out how I feel right now. SO MANY FEELINGS.

What's the gig? Little ole me is going to be in the middle of the glittering hive, reporting on camera for YahooLifestyle. WHAT IIIIIS THIS?! An awkward accountant like me  gets a makeover and goes to LFW?  I am genuinely living my own little Cinderella story right now.

In the middle of my shock though, comes the most important thing to say - a huge thank you to YOU. Whether you voted, liked,  retweeted or even just wished me luck – every single ounce of support has made a difference and Is genuinely appreciated by me.

The blow-by-blow account.
I was waiting the whooooole day for an email to come in, madly pressing refresh on my phone emails to see if I’d got anything. By 2pm, I was determined that I hadn’t got it. By 4:30, I was planning my Indian takeaway & large bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to make me feel better/drown my sorrows.

FVB at LFW! WTF?

I've always envied those of you with light hair. Having dark hair means that introducing vibrant colour can be tricky - let alone expensive and damaging.

The last time I had bright pink and purple streaks, I had to bleach my hair to unrecognisable colours before dying it again (via a little trip to Bleach London!). My hair was brittle and hard for ages, it took weeeeks of moisturising masks and oils to reverse the damage - the downsides of harsh colouring.

But what if I told you there was a way to get bright colour... without the bleach? Without the damage, without the permanence of it all. Commitment-free colour - is there such a thing?!

Today, I trial the vibrant effects of a range of hair chalks by #Flashmob Cosmetics and I'll tell you now - they are SO MUCH FUN.

Hair chalks have been having a little moment in the fashion and beauty world - this easy method of adding vibrant short term colour has been all over the catwalks and in every bloggers beauty bag!!

Nothing makes my day like getting a surprise bargain. I love surprises, I love bargains - I love surprise bargains ! That smug, happy feeling isn't something I often experience with my beauty products but today, I absolutely NEED to shout from the rooftops and tell you about a wonderful little product I've bought.

A £2.99 knockout, this lip cream performs well above its price band and is one of my new must-have makeup items!

Oh yeah - and I bought another one too. See?

No surprises here - of course my story, like most of my shopping stories, starts in Boots....

Picture the scene. Already late but desperate to buy something to jazz up my 9-5 makeup, I was headed to the beauty aisles of Boots in hunt of a lipstick.

Although this was a spontaneous buy, I didn't want to buy needlessly so I was looking for something new - something I hadn't tried before but something which was cheap enough to choose in about 2 minutes!

It was a snap decision - a bit like the feeling when the platform for your train has just been announced and you're trying to quickly pick an M&S sandwich whilst trying to avoid any of the yucky egg ones. (I know you know what I'm saying here guyss)

And what did I come out with? This adorable, non threatening little cream puff! Shall we take a closer look?

Product Of The Month: COLLECTION Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream

Hello Team! A bit of a busy week for me - my new job is going great but it's quite a change of pace with a much, much earlier start! Thankfully these longer summer hours have made it a lot easier because it looks like it's 3pm outside when it's actually 8pm. Brilliant.

Of course, with longer summer hours comes longer sun exposure and whilst that's great for my Vitamin D intake, it means more damage to my skin and..... ACCELERATED AGEING. Duh duh duhhhhh.

I know you KNOW that SPF is important but let's be honest, we think of SPF and think sticky, heavy, pasty cream. I don't want that on my skin - it'll take years to dry and my skin will be all tacky and shiny right?

Wrong. My friends - let me introduce you to the SPF products of today. These products are light, they're velvet smooth, they now even come in different textures and different formats for any purpose and any part of your body!

Before you start wondering 'what parts of my body would i need to use SPF on?' - just keep reading and all will be revealed...

SPF isn't just about the suncream. Today I'll be covering my favourite all-over sun cream, a great SPF primer, portable SPF products and also some fabulous SPF makeup. Sound good? Let's start.

Best All-Over Suncream.

As an all-things-makeup obsessed beauty blogger, theres nothing more fun than meeting up with a group of like minded and equally obsessed bloggers. That, AND a chance to get dressed up and demolish a few cocktails made sure that my Wednesday night at Bloggers Love Fashion Week was going to be a GREAT one...

But how did we get to this?! Read on.

Here's the low-down.

#BLFW Bloggers Love Fashion Week: Wednesday

So I'm a huge fan of Primark (who isn't?!) and I have found some absolute GEMS in there previously. You know - the kind of gems where everyone says "omgg where did you get that? Topshop? Urban Outfitters?" and you smugly reply "Primark actually!" I love it when that happens, don't you?

Anyway, one day I was dragging my overflowing basket round the beauty bit  and I saw this little wonder. Primark perfume? I was dead certain it was either going to smell sickly sweet or ,a la Mean Girls, "like a baby prostitute".

But hey, I was in the market for a fragrance so I gave it a chance. One quick spray with the tester on my wrist and BOOOOOOM!

Just when I thought Primark couldn't surprise me anymore.....

This Primark Polka perfume is genuinely, really lovely. As soon as I smelt it, I was so surprised I even said "wow, that's ACTUALLY really nice!!

(Unfortunately a shop assistant heard me which was friggin mortifying, but she said that she'd heard that loadsa times before and people are constantly surprised once they try it. Phew, Zoe Dubs out of trouble!!)

But does it smell like a baby prostitute?

When it comes to my everyday makeup face, I’m loving the dewy, glowing look these days. Namely because the evils of winter weather have dulled my skin and also because glowing skin makes me look a lot healthier outside than my normal McDonalds & mojitos diet would suggest.. (seriously though, LOVE a late night Mcdonalds after a couple of mojitos)

Enter the world of cream blush. I’ve already been raving about how natural and healthy cream blush makes you look when I reviewed the Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushers. Given that they were only available in the US, I was asked for my thoughts on a UK cream blush.

So, let’s not beat about the b(l)ush – here it is!

The elf Cosmetics Cream Blush and Bronzer. I know Im totally cheating because really, it’s two products into one case, but hey – IT’S TWO PRODUCTS in ONE CASE – what could be bad about that?!

Yes, yes, I know I've committed the cardinal blogging sin and taken pictures after it's been used but hey - I'm only human. I rush to use new products straight away, and deal with consequences later. Take THAT blogging etiquette!

My Initial thoughts?

With the right mascara, one coat does absolute wonders to twiggy little eyelashes like mine. But there are sooo many to choose from! Xtra Length this, Boom Volume that, Curl Friend bla bla bla - cheesy pretend names aside, what are the best mascaras for beautiful, big lashes?

Enter two of the biggest mascaras on the market in terms of reputation and lash-enhancing ability. Le Volume De Chanel and Benefit They're Real mascara. Two lash leviathons who had some great reviews over the last year and I WANT ONE!

I don't normally spend over £10 on a mascara and these both retail at about £20 so naturally, I got a sample size first! Always try before you buy - cordial rule of shopping smart.

IN THE RED CORNER

We have the infamous They're Real! mascara by Benefit.  Designed to lengthen, curl, volumise, lift AND separate - is there nothing this mascara can't do?

It's official. I am head over heels, truly, madly, deeply in love........ with a square box.  No, not the TV. No, not a box of Guylian truffles. Those are soooo pre-2014, dear reader. I'm talking about my new blusher by Lancome!

What happened? Well I hit the New Year sales armed with a Boots giftcard (always dangerous) and boy-oh-boy did I luck out or what? I stumbled across this beautiful Lancome Blush in Love blusher at the Lancome counter.

Not only was it beautiful, it was Limited Edition AND half price AND I had a giftcard!! Is there any other better combination?

First things first, not to come across shallow, but I fell in love for good looks... I had to get this Lancome Blush In Love because it is BEAUTIFUL. Seriously stunning. A delicate print of spring roses in a triple-toned palette, the Lancome Blush In Love is designed for a fresh glow - an illuminating blush to wake up tired skin and hide any hint of a hangover...

It's the New Year Party and what did I wear on my face? (Other than a big boozy smile of course..)

Obviously there was a whoooole load of slap on there, but today I'm going to talk about the look I created using a couple of Oriflame products which were sent my way.

Being a beauty blogger, there's always a bit of a focus on how you wear your makeup. People aren't going to read my beauty blog unless I prove my salt, so let's take a closer look!

MY GIANT FACE COMING UP!!

Oriflame Makeup Beauty Blog NYE Tips

Da- dahh! The party face! I've been doing a lot of travelling around over the holidays so it's vital that a full-on face like this can be done with as few products as possible.

I've used about 5 products on this face, namely an eyebrow kit, an eyeliner, a lipstick and some shimmer....

And it's easy peasy to do! Wanna know how? Read on..

Beauty 2013: A Face Value Beauty Blog Summary

Today, a quick look at one of my favourite lipsticks of 2013. It's the No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick in Gay Geranium.

Alriiiight, hold back your giggles girls! It was launched way, way back in 1935 so you can thank 1930's No7 for the name.

But immaturity aside, this Gay Geranium shade is an absolute classic. It was actually discontinued and brought back due to popular demand - apparently the Queen is a big fan!

Christmas is definitely a time to crack out the colours and shades you wouldn't normally wear in your black-and-grey normal daily life. And this orange No7 lipstick is certainly not one I thought I'd normally wear.

But hey, if it's good enough for The Queen, it's good enough for me!

Let's take a closer look.

This No7 Stay Perfect lipstick is a wonderful, vibrant coral-orange shade. More orange than pink, it's a bright shade which I think suits a lot of skin tones.

This time last year I was wondering what a hashtag was. This time last year I didn't have a decent hobby. This time last year, I made a great decision to start a blog! NICE ONE 2012 ZOE DUBS.

Can you believe it?! It was one year today - this very day- that Face Value Beauty Blog was born. And what a year it's been.

From the concepts of a bored idea, through to an international tweeting, instagramming full-fledged MACHINE, the blog has grown more than I could ever have imagined this time last year.

In my first year I have (poorly) written 136 posts, somehow gained almost 800 Twitter followers and now? Face Value Beauty Blog now gets over 1,000 hits a day. This is absolutely mental.

And none of this would have been possible without you, dear reader. Even though I'm convinced that the majority of the hits are my friends or my mum, it's lovely to know that someone out there reads this blog and hopefully likes it! SO THANK YOU!!!

Here are the highlights of my first year:

For more info, click the picture and it should (relying on my HTML skills) take you to the relevant post!

Highlight #1 Getting to meet people who I've seen only on the internet - in PERSON! aka becoming a massive #fangirl and embarassing myself. From skincare gurus, hair stylists, brand founders and other bloggers - everyone's been so lovely to little old me!

And that's just one of my highlights - keep reading to see what else I've done in 2013
