Here's a statement for you: Liquid eyeliner is my all time fave. It's potent, it's precise, it doesn't smudge and it doesn't drag your delicate eye skin. That's a win, win, win in my books!

The range of makeup we have available to us is astounding. Eyeliner alone comes in many formats- pencil, gel, liquid, kohl and eeeven after that, liquid eyeliner comes in more options for you to choose from.

There's the classic brush and pot format, the felt tip and pot, flat tipped applicator, and my favourite - the liquid pen. With so many choices available, is there any difference between them?!

Today I'm going to be looking at three liquid eyeliner pens, all by respected beauty brands - but which one came out on top?

The Line Up.

Today's review has generated a lot of questions from my Instagram and Facebook followers. Mainly, ZOE, WHAT IS THIS and WHERE DID YOU GET IT FROM?

Seasoned beauty fiends out there are probably laughing to themselves at the ignorance of it all - it's CLEARLY an Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. These Naked Palettes have been flying off shelves for months now, ready to cover the nearest eyelids with glorious, glorious rose-toned bronze.

But is it a Naked 3? Look closely.... You doubt yourselves now, don't you?

Well, what if I told you, it will cost you exactly £3.63 to purchase today.

Yahh, it's definitely NOT by Urban Decay then...

The Story.

So normally I like to blog about products I really love. I don't really want to slag off stuff on the internet but thinking about it, bad reviews are generally more fun to read. Not only do they prevent regrettable purchases and save pennies, they also fulfill that salacious need to discuss products behind their back. (5 years in an all-girl school provides me with quite excellent experience in this area...)

So for your entertainment purposes my dear readers, I had a think about some products I've tried which have simply fallen a little flat. But before I go all Regina George on today's product, I'd like to give a little plug to my YouTube channel which I have recently set up. SO. Subscribe to my YouTube channel today!

Advertising over - let's take a look at today's moan. Drum roll please, who's first in line for the firing squad? It's the Black Lash Mascara by Smooch Cosmetics.

Mascara is one of those products which unfortunately requires a lot of frogs to be kissed before you meet the handsome prince. And, as you may have guessed - this Smooch Black Lash Mascara was one of the frogs.

I don't know about you but I'm really not getting enough sleep these days. Even when I've finished work early and have a quiet night in planned, I somehow end up dilly-dallying around at the end of the night. More often than not I'll get carried away watching YouTube before realising that wait, it's actually now midnight. Waa.

Or I'll start a quick session of Candy Crush only to realise that it's suddenly been an hour and I still have to brush my teeth and take my makeup off.

And don't eeeven get me started on my night routine. I'll think about trying a new facial oil, a brow enhancing serum, a new eye cream and before you know its taken me 40 minutes to get ready for bed.

Of course, along with no sleep comes my good friend Mr Bags. You know, the morning after when you look in the mirror and Mr Bags has put up residency under your eyes. And that's when my Benefit Fake Up steps in.

What is Fake Up?

It's a clever, hydrating, crease-control concealer designed to hide Mr Bags and fake your awakeness! You stroke it under the eye and then pat it in. See ya later Mr Bags.

I never used to do my eyebrows. And I wonder WHY EVER NOT. Before brow beauty came into my life, my brows were pale and sparser than a dead christmas tree. Defined brows really do change up your look and, if done right, can really enhance your face shape.

But how to do it? There's a seemingly endless array of brow beautifiers on offer - brow pencils, powders, waxes, gels. Brow to brain overload.

From my experience, brow pencils give great, precise definition but can look quite harsh if your brow shape is not quite right. Like two hard slugs that have stumbled onto your face (which, incidentally, sounds like the worst thing ever. Hate slugs) So they're not great if you're a beginner, or if you aren't sure where to start shaping.

Brow gels are great for keeping unruly brows in shape and adding texture to fine brows, but don't really do much in terms of solid colour, especially for dark-haired girls. It's the most au naturel of the options.

My weapon of choice, and particularly good for brow beginners, is powder. It fills in gaps in sparse brows and is great for enhancing the shape you already have.

I then choose to set it with a brow gel afterwards because y'know - for me - more is more.

For most NORMAL people though - this kit by Oriflame should probably do the trick!

What IS this cute little compact?

Eyeliner is one of my most fickle friends in cosmetics. I can't live without it - it's my desert island product. But sometimes, when I need it most, my eyeliner lets me down. Boo YOU eyeliner.

I love kohl for it's intense, blackest black "I am the NIGHT!" effect but a bit of heat, sweat and one accidental eye rub later, boom - it's headed halfway down my cheek, making me look more panda than Prada.

Well what about liquid eyeliner then? Sure, it lasts long and looks insanely black when painted on BUT once dry, some liquid liners they lose that initial sooty black colour payoff and can be prone to flaking.

So what's the answer to this clear first world dilemma you ask? Funny you ask, cos I have JUST THE THING.

So here it is, my first Face Of The Day post. Except, I'm not doing Face Of The Day, I'm doing Face Of Last Night - because judging by the way last night went, you do nahhhhht wanna see this morning's Face.

For those new to what Face Of The Day is - basically, I upload a makeup look and then discuss it! I'll talk about the products I used, how I applied them plus any FaceValue tips I have - alllllll sprinkled with colourful exclamation marks and lame attempts at being funny. HOORAY.

Right - let's go - my first Face Of The Day...

Quite a typical going out-out look for me - dramatic eyes, defined brows, contouring and a punchy lip - a wholeeee lotta slap to be fair.

So what am I wearing???

My first FOTD: I'm going out-out.

Your eyes are the window to your soul.... Now I love a good metaphor but pre-products and first thing in the morning, my eyes are hardly the twinkling, fluttery windows I'd like them to be. More like soulless grey curtains keeping rays of sunshine out. Boo.

Used correctly, eyelash curlers are the equivalent of fancy Venetian blinds, opening up your eyes and making everything look better, brighter and more polished. Told you I liked metaphors.

The ultimate in eyelash curlers is widely agreed to be Shu Uemura but there is a big divide over the perfect curl and the £20 departing from your purse (Me, a quantity over quality girl? GUILTY.) Sooooo on a recent 3for2 adventure at Boots, I ended up buying this mid-range pair from Kiss USA as a sort of teeny-tiny baby step before I take the plunge....

Available from Boots and online from £6.20
