Yardley is a brand that we all know, but tend to associate with grannies and talc but I recently attended the launch of the new Yardley London Hermina fragrance - and was very pleasantly surprised.

I can tell you now that all talc-related judgements have been cast aside. The new Yardley London perfumes are modern and elegant, and what better way to encapsulate that then with a Modern Calligraphy workshop?

Hi team! I have been fantastically busy this week with work and Xmas festivities and blogging has taken a little breather. Can you believe it's December already?!  I have bought zero presents so far and not even put my tree up - so much to do!! How far have you got?!

Today's blog post is a collection of my favourite fragrance bottles, spotted at The Perfume Shop Christmas preview.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm a sucker for picking perfume based on a beautiful bottle. I know it should be about the scent, but sometimes I just want that bottle on my dresser! If only more of them were refillable!

I've never been much of a perfume purchaser - I had the same perfume for about 4 years (Benefit Maybe Baby) but it got discontinued so I've started to experiment with scents and fragrance. (See my latest post on A New Way To Pick Fragrance!)

The thing is, sometimes the commercial fragrances out there just don't offer the scent you want. Too artificial, too samey, too blahh. On top of that, the specialist fragrance houses out there offer great unique scents.... but at sky high prices, boooo.

Today's post is a little introduction to a great fragrance brand called The Library Of Fragrance - and boy-oh-boy, to quote Chandler, could that BE any more self-explanatory?

The Library Of Fragrance is a vast collection of individual and unique smells, including crowd-pleasers like Baby Powder and Fresh Laundry in addition to intriguing and original scents like Grass, Playdoh and Tomato.....

How do you pick your perfume? Do you see an advert, go smell it, and decide whether you like it? Do you just grab the prettiest looking bottle off the shelf? Or do you get recommendations from friends or magazines and then try it?

For me and many others out there, it's basically ALL OF THE ABOVE. But what if you'd like to buy a perfume for someone else? (Being the very generous individuals that you are, you lovely lot) Gifting perfume is normally a no-no unless that person has asked for it or if you know that person really really really well right? Well think again..!

Today's post is about an ingenius little gift box called Vivabox from The Perfume Shop. Basically, the gift box comes with several little samples of perfume for you to try - and then, once you've picked your favourite, there's a gift voucher for you to get the full-size bottle! Perfume gifted, easy.

So I'm a huge fan of Primark (who isn't?!) and I have found some absolute GEMS in there previously. You know - the kind of gems where everyone says "omgg where did you get that? Topshop? Urban Outfitters?" and you smugly reply "Primark actually!" I love it when that happens, don't you?

Anyway, one day I was dragging my overflowing basket round the beauty bit  and I saw this little wonder. Primark perfume? I was dead certain it was either going to smell sickly sweet or ,a la Mean Girls, "like a baby prostitute".

But hey, I was in the market for a fragrance so I gave it a chance. One quick spray with the tester on my wrist and BOOOOOOM!

Just when I thought Primark couldn't surprise me anymore.....

This Primark Polka perfume is genuinely, really lovely. As soon as I smelt it, I was so surprised I even said "wow, that's ACTUALLY really nice!!

(Unfortunately a shop assistant heard me which was friggin mortifying, but she said that she'd heard that loadsa times before and people are constantly surprised once they try it. Phew, Zoe Dubs out of trouble!!)

But does it smell like a baby prostitute?

I know I normally only do workwear but here's a little Valentines special for you. Love is in the (really chilly) air and I'm feeling girly! And nothing says Valentines romance more than flowers, pastel colours and a whole lotta floaty material.

What will I be wearing this weekend? (Yes, the weekend - let's face it, no one reeeally wants to do the real thing on the Friday. I'll be working until 6 and then home by 7 - the restaurants will be packed and overpriced and.... at the risk of becoming Valentines Grumpus, I'll stop digressing now)

In an ideal world where the weather doesn't leave me looking like a sodden cat everytime I step out of the house, I would wear this.

Voilaaaaa. I call this my romantic ballerina look.... Hints of a joyful spring ahead, plus a dash of carefree playfulness with the oversized flowers, this outfit ticks all the boxes for a perfect Valentines outfit. Girly, flirty and romantic but elegant at the same time.

I've recently become quite an obsessive person. It's not something I'd normally say about myself until this year. Am I going backwards in life??!
I got my first Yankee Candle last October at a Bloggers Halloween event and I've been hooked ever since. Hooked on scented candles? I'm not sure whether to feel happy or sad..

Yes, that includes rushing into Clintons the minute I realised they sold Yankee Candles. Yes, it also includes prising open ALL the jars in ALL the scents to smell EVERY different candle on the shelf. Oh, and going back to smell them AGAIN to decide which one I liked the best.

That day, dear readers - was the beginning to my obsession with Yankee Candles and all things scented...

I never really used to burn candles - to me they were a birthday thing, or sometimes, a bath thing. But nowadays, I'll get home and put a candle on almost routinely. AND I LOVES IT!

I've even started bringing candles out of my bedroom and into the lounge - much to the annoyance of my male housemates who complain that it doesn't make any difference and it only smells "alright" when I shove it under their noses. (To be fair, that's probably the best I could manage if someone shoved a burning flame in my face. Sorry housemates.)

So, candle-converting attempts aside - here's a little look at what I'm burning this week.

First of all, my favourite. The ultimate scent for me....

Here's a first for the blog - a fragrance review!

I can now finally say I've bought something from Lanvin! No, unfortunately it's not quite a designer dress or handbag but on my way back from the Far East the other month, I picked up this little beauty. Eclat d'Arpege Gourmandise EDP.

Possibly the cutest decorated perfume bottle ever, the bottle features a French macaron and treats theme. Tres mignonne non? (thanks GCSE French)

Eclat d'Arpege Gourmandise is a limited edition of the original Lanvin Eclat d'Arpege fragrance. I've not heard of the original but stumbled across this little beauty in Duty Free!
