Yardley is a brand that we all know, but tend to associate with grannies and talc but I recently attended the launch of the new Yardley London Hermina fragrance - and was very pleasantly surprised.
I can tell you now that all talc-related judgements have been cast aside. The new Yardley London perfumes are modern and elegant, and what better way to encapsulate that then with a Modern Calligraphy workshop?

Hi team! I have been fantastically busy this week with work and Xmas festivities and blogging has taken a little breather. Can you believe it's December already?! I have bought zero presents so far and not even put my tree up - so much to do!! How far have you got?!
Today's blog post is a collection of my favourite fragrance bottles, spotted at The Perfume Shop Christmas preview.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm a sucker for picking perfume based on a beautiful bottle. I know it should be about the scent, but sometimes I just want that bottle on my dresser! If only more of them were refillable!

I've never been much of a perfume purchaser - I had the same perfume for about 4 years (Benefit Maybe Baby) but it got discontinued so I've started to experiment with scents and fragrance. (See my latest post on A New Way To Pick Fragrance!)
The thing is, sometimes the commercial fragrances out there just don't offer the scent you want. Too artificial, too samey, too blahh. On top of that, the specialist fragrance houses out there offer great unique scents.... but at sky high prices, boooo.
Today's post is a little introduction to a great fragrance brand called The Library Of Fragrance - and boy-oh-boy, to quote Chandler, could that BE any more self-explanatory?
The Library Of Fragrance is a vast collection of individual and unique smells, including crowd-pleasers like Baby Powder and Fresh Laundry in addition to intriguing and original scents like Grass, Playdoh and Tomato.....

So I'm a huge fan of Primark (who isn't?!) and I have found some absolute GEMS in there previously. You know - the kind of gems where everyone says "omgg where did you get that? Topshop? Urban Outfitters?" and you smugly reply "Primark actually!" I love it when that happens, don't you?
Anyway, one day I was dragging my overflowing basket round the beauty bit and I saw this little wonder. Primark perfume? I was dead certain it was either going to smell sickly sweet or ,a la Mean Girls, "like a baby prostitute".
But hey, I was in the market for a fragrance so I gave it a chance. One quick spray with the tester on my wrist and BOOOOOOM!
Just when I thought Primark couldn't surprise me anymore.....
This Primark Polka perfume is genuinely, really lovely. As soon as I smelt it, I was so surprised I even said "wow, that's ACTUALLY really nice!!
(Unfortunately a shop assistant heard me which was friggin mortifying, but she said that she'd heard that loadsa times before and people are constantly surprised once they try it. Phew, Zoe Dubs out of trouble!!)
But does it smell like a baby prostitute?

It's the weekend and you know what that means? Time for a pamper session! And in this horrible, cold, winter weather there's nothing more satisfying than a nice, steamy, fragrant bath. Aaaaah.
I don't know about you, but I find a bath is ten times more fun and satisfying when you've got a bath bomb involved! It's that feeling you get when you crumble it in, and watch it fizzzzzz around and turn the water into different colours. Like a firework in the water, except much more relaxing and soothing and with no children running around you with sparklers.
And for me, there's only one place to get a bath bomb (or nine, in this case) and that's LUSH! Y'know, that shop which you can smell before you even see it? That shop with the assortment of multi-coloured cheese-wheels of soap?
You may have seen my post about the Lush Christmas Range and now, with those bath bombs in my happy hands, let's take a closer look!
Aren't they adorable??! A great array of shapes, sizes, scents and shimmers. Which one do you like the best?

Here's a first for the blog - a fragrance review!
I can now finally say I've bought something from Lanvin! No, unfortunately it's not quite a designer dress or handbag but on my way back from the Far East the other month, I picked up this little beauty. Eclat d'Arpege Gourmandise EDP.
I can now finally say I've bought something from Lanvin! No, unfortunately it's not quite a designer dress or handbag but on my way back from the Far East the other month, I picked up this little beauty. Eclat d'Arpege Gourmandise EDP.
Possibly the cutest decorated perfume bottle ever, the bottle features a French macaron and treats theme. Tres mignonne non? (thanks GCSE French)
Eclat d'Arpege Gourmandise is a limited edition of the original Lanvin Eclat d'Arpege fragrance. I've not heard of the original but stumbled across this little beauty in Duty Free!

It's a habit - every morning, we get up and we apply an anti-perspirant or a deodorant. But do we know what we're applying? Are anti-perspirants linked to cancer? What's the difference between the two anyway? WAAAA.

| A group of anti-perspirants and deodorants hanging out |
Here's the science part..
Anti-perspirants are designed to stop you sweating - we're talking the heavy sprays that sometimes end up crusting in white patches over your skin. The Sure's, Rightguard's of the world, and all sorts of MAX POWER AGAINST SWEATING - SWEAT-IS-EVIL type products.
Deodorants on the other hand, are only designed to prevent you from smelling. Most anti-perspirants are deodorants too since they stop you sweating but if you buy a solo anti-deodorant (ie Impulse), you're only perfuming yourself as opposed to preventing sweat.
Regardless of the myth - sweat is odourless. Seriously dudes, google it. It's only when left on the skin that it starts to smell. Basically, the normal bacteria which lives on the skin starts to feed on the sweat (mmm) and this process breaks it down into the unpleasant smell that we link with BO aka BOOOO!
Get your heavy-duty science hat on - we're going one level deeper!
