Natural Alternative To Lipstick: Burt's Bees Lip Crayon Swatches

Hi team! Are we out of winter yet? This weather is so unpredictable! As soon as I think we might be out of it, a big windy, chilly day comes along and blasts my skin into submission. BORED OF THIS WEATHER NOW!

My Best Lip Products For Dry Lips!

I was in Covent Garden the other day and I suddenly remembered - there's one thing I've wanted to do in Covent Garden for quite some time now. Nope, not the Ballet, not the Royal Opera House either - I'm talking about the Burberry Beauty Box! (Obvs..)

Opened last Christmas, it is the ONLY store dedicated to Burberry Beauty - makeup, fragrance, scarves and a selection of beauty accessories designed by Christopher Bailey especially for the Beauty Box. I just HAD to go and buy something - y'know, since it's one-of-a-kind and everything.... right?

Ridiculous self-justifications taken on board.... I spent half an hour in there and ended up leaving with this special package.

Isn't it beautiful?! Lovingly packaged, one of the best bits of the Burberry Beauty Box experience was opening the bag (Once I managed to bring myself to undo the beautiful ribbon tie of course.)

Why? Because the great unveiling was a bit like opening Pandora's box - more and more just kept coming out! There was SO much more than just the lipstick inside... Should I have expected anything less?

Let's find out what's in the bag.

A Trip To The Burberry Beauty Box!

Nothing makes my day like getting a surprise bargain. I love surprises, I love bargains - I love surprise bargains ! That smug, happy feeling isn't something I often experience with my beauty products but today, I absolutely NEED to shout from the rooftops and tell you about a wonderful little product I've bought.

A £2.99 knockout, this lip cream performs well above its price band and is one of my new must-have makeup items!

Oh yeah - and I bought another one too. See?

No surprises here - of course my story, like most of my shopping stories, starts in Boots....

Picture the scene. Already late but desperate to buy something to jazz up my 9-5 makeup, I was headed to the beauty aisles of Boots in hunt of a lipstick.

Although this was a spontaneous buy, I didn't want to buy needlessly so I was looking for something new - something I hadn't tried before but something which was cheap enough to choose in about 2 minutes!

It was a snap decision - a bit like the feeling when the platform for your train has just been announced and you're trying to quickly pick an M&S sandwich whilst trying to avoid any of the yucky egg ones. (I know you know what I'm saying here guyss)

And what did I come out with? This adorable, non threatening little cream puff! Shall we take a closer look?

Product Of The Month: COLLECTION Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream

Everyone has a weakness and when it comes to my weakness, all I see is blue circles.... Blue circles, white writing - yes my friends, I'm talking about the siren call of a shop named Boots.

I don't know what it is but I can't go to Boots without buying more than I intended to. Even if it's boring crap like mouthwash (dull yet ESSENTIAL) , I always end up spending more than I planned! Please tell me this happens to you too?! Ho wait, perhaps you have an inkling of self control.

Given my weakness, imagine how happy I am when it comes to special offers and the latest 3 for 2 mix and match cosmetics is one of my all-time favourites! Give me ALL the cosmetics, gimme gimme gimmeee.

So, what did I get?? Recognise any of these?

No7 Lash Impact Mascara.

First up is the new No7 Lash Impact mascara - how cool is the packaging??! Reminds me a bit of Christmas though - or Dorothy shoes... How good is it on your lashes though?

Did you see last week when I went to the Burt's Bees Natural Lip Colour launch? I was really impressed with the event  and now that I've had time to try out all the products..... I'm even more impressed!

Like I said last time, I've started to think more about the ingredients in my lipgloss - particularly as we swallow 2 kilos of the stuff in our lifetime!!

So the first thing I used to associated with "natural colour cosmetics" was wishy-washy colours, weird rose-tasting formulas and, quite frankly, just lacking that overall OOMPH that my favourite chemical-loaded cosmetics have.

Well - and I very rarely say this - I was wrong.  Feast your eyes on these babies!

Burts bees lipgloss lip shimmer makeup beauty review

Lacking in OOMPH? Wishy-washy colours? First of all, they look great. This is a stunning picture, and truly representative of the stunning lipglosses contained within them.

Let's take a closer look!

NEW Burt's Bees Natural Lip Gloss & Lip Shimmers

Have you heard that age-old fact that a woman swallows 6lbs of lipstick in her lifetime? 6lbs?! How much is that in grams .... *Googles it* ... 2700grams?! OVER 2.5 kilos??? Is that actually for reals?!

The more I think about what I’m putting on my lips or onto my skin, the more I start thinking I should go organic. Y’know, go back down the natural path? Avoid horrible parabens and petrochemicals - stick to the good stuff.

I touched on this a bit when I reviewed the lovely Korres WhiteTea Facial Gel Cleanser and I realised that the no-nasties approach should definitely be applied for my lip products. If you're gonna swallow over 2 kilos of this stuff, you’d rather it be a natural product right?!

Jokes aside on natural things you can swallow, in my opinion, the Burt’s Bees original beeswax lip balm is one of the most natural lip balms you can find at your local beauty dealer. Me and my friends have been a fan of that little yellow tube for quite some time now.

Here's the even better news..... Burt’s Bees have now launched a gorgeous new natural lip colour collection – all natural and free of artificial elements!

The new kids on the block are these stunning Burt's Bees Lip Glosses. 100% natural and packed full of Mother Nature’s moisture-makers – Jojoba, Sunflower and Botanical Oils – these lip glosses are priced at £8.99 and will be launching very soon!!

Armed with a giftcard and the intention to SPEND IT ALL, I was browsing Boots for my latest victims when this lovely lip duo caught my eye. I'm a big fan of bareminerals anyway - the bareminerals READY SPF20 foundation was my go-to face fixer across the summer and I wanted to try more!

As i've mentioned before, i'm useless at drinking my 8 glasses of water a day and as a result of this, plus the horrid wintery weather we've had, my lips have been really paying the price. That’s right – return of the dreaded crispy lips!

Let’s be honest, sometimes there’s just not time to do a lip scrub every day is there? I was looking for a moisturising lip balm or gloss to hopefully treat and transform at the same time. Was I asking for too much?

This is the Pout Loud: Loud&Clear Lip Sheer Duo by Bareminerals. They look stunning and the colours are “pure pops of pink and berry” – sounds good enough to eat almost!

The Pout Loud Lip Duo is basically two of the Bareminerals Loud & Clear Lip Sheers. If you’ve not tried a Bareminerals Loud&Clear, you need to get on that train soon!

What's a Loud & Clear Lip Sheer?

It's happened. I've been shopping!! Ever since the new Revlon Matte Balms came out, I've been absolutely bursting to buy one but they've been selling out EVERYWHERE (and this comes from a girl who has FOUR Boots stores within walking distance of her house.)

This little shopping obsession started when I was testing the Matte Balms out of curiosity whilst waiting for a train. I didn't really plan to buy one, I'm on a "do I NEEED it" hype at the moment, but I did not expect to find a colour I really really really liked (and needed).

It had been a long day, I thought I'd treat myself so I put the tester down, reached for the new one and .... sods law, they had NONE!

Coming so close to the purchase before being turned away is possibly the worst thing EVER (after war, famine, domestic violence etc obvs) but four trips to the four Boots near me later and I'm now smiling like the cat who's got the cream.

Yup, I found it!  (Look at my happy face)

What is all this fuss about? Only the new Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Mischievous.... in short, it's a velvety-matte finish version of the Clinique Chubby Stick. Let's take a look shall we?

Honey, I'M HOME!

I'm fresh back from New York and 'so totes' in the mood for Christmas. A bit of snow and I'm suddenly all festive!! Yes, it snowed in the Big Apple and yes, I did everything on my cliched list of "things to do in New York" - You can tell by my increased use of exclamation marks (as if I could use any more) that I'm having an awesome holiday season so far and I HOPE YOU ARE TOO!

But before I get too excited and start shouting about Christmas, back to the topic at hand. Definitely a jam-packed but wonderful first-time-in-New-York - here's a little snapshot of what I got up to...

What on earth am I doing? Read on, dear reader, read on!

There comes a time in eternity when history fashions itself a revolution. This age, my friends, is the age of the evolving lipstick! From bullet to wand to stick, lipstick formats are constantly evolving and my new favourite? It's the crayon.

Now Clinique werent exactly the first to bring this out but I'd say that the reams of lip crayons available in the beauty aisle now are largely a product of "chubby stick feverrrr".

And today's review is one of them! The well named Sexy Mother Pucker gloss stick by Soap & Glory.

First of all - 10/10 for the name. Nice one Soap&Glory. I love a good pun.

Being A Sexy Mother Pucker with Soap & Glory.

At a London Bbloggers Meetup last month, I decided to treat myself to a little high end purchase. This is what happens when a group of beauty obsessed enablers get together!!

Just picture me repeating my 'Do I need it? Do I NEED IT?" mantra (very much like Isla Fisher in Confessions of a Shopaholic.)

And unfortunately at the Dior counter it went something like this.

Dior Lip Glow? ...I have... lips! I have lips! I NEED IT. I'll buy this and this alone!

Anyway, film quotes aside. What is it? Just a lip balm? No my friends, this is a Colour Reviver Balm. It's a gorgeous gliding lip balm which changes colour according to your unique skin composition. Magic!

Dior Lip Glow Colour Reviver Balm: Di-awesome or Di-awful?

Today marks the first day of #28Kisses – where I will be wearing a different lip colour each day for the whole of February. Thankfully I have chosen the shortest month of the year, mainly because I am lazy, not because I don’t have enough lipsticks...

I’m going to be showcasing a range of colours and textures along with suggestions of what to wear them with and when to wear them.  HOW DELIGHTFUL.

There are a whole load of other blogs participating – just search for the hashtag #28kisses.  I wish I could say this was in aid of some sort of deserving charity, but it’s not, perhaps you'd sponsor me to do all 28? Just go with it!

Kiss Number 1

Today, I’ve got Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain. (not to be confused with Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain Balm, also another product by Revlon)

#28Kisses: Revlon Lip Balm Stain

Today's review was a spontaneous weekend buy from The Body Shop. I haven't shopped there for ages but mannn, do they really have a lot of good smelling products or what?! They really have improved their range, it's not just bath, shower and body butters anymore - I will definitely go back again soon!

I bought the Ginger Sparkle Lip Balm - one of the three Limited Edition balms brought out for Xmas 2012. Look how cute it is!

I'll be honest, the thought of a ginger lip balm does NOT sound that appealing - when I bought it I thought it was going to be peach flavoured, doy, that'll teach me to judge by colour!

But it's surprisingly very nice..

It smells like old-school sweets, zesty sherbet and candied peel and doesn't taste too gingery at all - so much that I wouldn't call it Ginger Sparkle, I'd call it "Christmas" flavour.. (again, a sign why I am in Finance and not Branding..)

Why did I buy it?

I chose this for several reasons...
